Novelist Rabeya Khatun dies

Swadhinata Padak and Ekushey Padak winner novelist Rabeya Khatun has passed away. She was 86. 

She breathed her last around 5 pm at her house in Banani. She was suffering from different old age complications. 

She will be buried after a namaz-e-janaza on Monday afternoon. 

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their deep shocks at the death of Rabeya. 

Rabeya was born on December 27, 1935 to Maulavi Mohammad Mulluk Chand and Hamida Khatun in Bikrampur (now in Munshiganj).

She wrote over 50 novels and more than 400 short stories, as of 2008.
