The parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has recommended the government to suspend London-bound all flights as a new variant of coronavirus emerged in UK.
The Jatiya Sangsad body came up with the suggestion at its seventh meeting on Wednesday aims to curb spread of the new COVID variant.
The committee also recommended maintaning obligatory 14-day quarantine by those who returned home from UK after the latter country found new variant of the deadly virus.
After the meeting, the body president Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim told Jago News that they advised the government to halt London-bound all flights from Bangladesh as the new, potentially more contagious coronavirus variant, is spreading fast in countries from UK.
Since the UK disclosed the mutated coronavirus, at least 40 countries, so far, banned air connectivity with the country.
