Manzur-I-Mawla, a poet and former director-general of Bangla Academy, has died from coronavirus.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital around 11am on Sunday.
Bangla Academy’s Public Relations Department confirmed the death.
His family members will handle his burial and funeral prayers, the academy informed.
Mawla was admitted to the hospital on December 5 after being diagnosed with the coronavirus infection.
He had served as secretary in various government ministries. He became the director general of Bangla Academy in the early 1980s.
