A case has been filed against 36 people over the death of former Hefazat-e-Islam chief Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi terming his death as "pre-planned murder."
Hefazat joint secretary general Mamunul Haque, another joint secretary general Nasir Uddin Munir, organizing secretary Mawlana Azizudl Haque Islamabadi, vice organizing secretary Meer Idris, publicity secretary Zakaria Noman Foyeji, assistant finance secretary Muhammad Ahsan Ullah and assistant secretary general Habib Ullah are among other accused.
Mohammad Mainuddin, brother-in-law of Allama Shafi, lodged the case with the court of Chattogram Judicial Magistrate Shiplu Kuma De on Thursday.
Taking the lawsuit into cognisance, the court asked the Police Bureau of Investigation to look into the matter, said the plaintiff's lawyer advocate Mohammad Abu Hanif.
After filing the case, Mainuddin alleged that Mamunul Haque plotted, and Nasir Uddin Munir led the murder of Allama Shafi.
Visiting Chattogram on September 11, Mamunul Haque had said Shafi Hujur will have to pay an extreme price if his son Anas Madani is not suspended that led subsequent protest at Hathazari Madrasa, he told Jago News.
"What was the meaning of Mamunul Haque's word extreme price, death of Hujur? We have understood it a plan for killing him," Mainuddin added.
"As part of the pre-plan, Hujur (Allama Shafi) has been killed by removing oxygen and rice tube from him," he said, adding that Nasir Uddin Munir led the work.
On September 18, Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi, first ameer and supreme leader of Hefazat-e-Islam, and rector of Hathazari Madrasa died.
