Coronavirus deaths in Bangladesh exceed 7000

The number of deaths from coronavirus surpassed 7000 in Bangladesh on Saturday, with the government recorded 34 more people died from the virus in the past 24 hours. 

With the fresh deaths, the deadly pathogen claimed a total of 7,007 lives in the country.

In the last 24 hours, 1,329 more people were diagnosed with the virus, raising the total infection to 4,89,178.

Of the total patients, 4,17,503 recovered, with 3,185 made recovery in the last 24 hours.

The daily count came from test of 12,630 samples in the past day. With this, total sample test stood at 29,56,882.

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.

As of Saturday, the epidemic infected 71,536,243 people and killed 1,603,501 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 49,737,297 across the world.
