Govt reports 24 more Covid-19 deaths

Twenty four more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,930.

During the period, 2,159 more people were diagnosed with the virus, raising the total infection to 4,84,104.

Of the total patients, 4,05,966 recovered, with 4,772 made recovery in the last 24 hours.

The daily count came from test of 17,042 samples in the past day. With this, total sample test stood at 29,11,664.

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.

As of Wednesday, the epidemic infected 68,693,331 people and killed 1,565,879 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 47,630,729 across the world.
