Coronavirus: 36 more die in 24 hours

The death toll from coronavirus has reached 6,874 as 36 more people died from the disease in the last 24 hours. 

Besides, 2,198 more tested positive for the virus, raising the number of such cases to 479,743. 

In the last 24 hours, 14,369 samples were examined and out of them 2,198 got positive results for the virus. Apart from, 2,663 more recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 398,623, Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release on Monday.

Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8. 

The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.

The deadly virus spread to 213 countries and territories, killing some 1,542,910 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

As many as 67,457,650 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 46,662,297 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
