DRU elects Nomani its president, Mashiur secretary

Mursalin Nomani and Mashiur Rahman Khan have been elected president and general secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity respectively for the 2020-2021 tenure. 

In the election, Mursalin Nomani bagged 526 votes while his near rival Shahnewaz Dulal got 447, and another rival Nazrul Islam Mithu 398.

Mashiur Rahman Khan secured 692 votes while his near rivals Tofazzal Hossain and Abu Al Mursalin Babla got 426 and 238 votes respectively. 

Chief election commissioner Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, former president of a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) announced the results on Monday evening.

Earlier, the DRU members cast their votes from 9am to 5pm today to choose the organization's next leadership.
