The Liberation War Affairs Ministry has formed a committee to prepare the list of martyred intellectuals who had sacrificed their lives on December 14, 1971 ahead of the victory day of the Independence War, reports BSS.
“A committee has been formed comprising with researchers, freedom fighters and officials of the liberation affairs ministry to scrutinize the enrollment of the martyred intellectuals,” according to a ministry release here today.
A gazette notification has been issued on Thursday heading Liberation War Affairs Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh as the chairman of the committee. Additional Secretary M Shahidul Haq Bhuiyan and Deputy Secretary Rathindra Nath Datta will act respectively as its member and member secretary.
Dhaka University Professor Muntasir Mamun, Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee President Shahriar Kabir, Dhaka University Professor Mejbah Kamal, Genocide Repression Archive and Museum Trustee Dr Chowdhury Shahid Quader, National Institute of Preventive & Social Medicine (NIPSOM) Director Dr Bayejid Khurshid Riaz and Genocide Repression Archive and Museum researcher Gazi Salauddin are among the members of the committee.
Besides, noted cultural personality valiant freedom fighter Nasir Uddin Yousuf Bacchu and valiant freedom fighter and researcher Lt. Col. (retd) Kazi Sajjad Jahir have also been included in the committee.
“The committee has been formed to prepare a list of the martyred intellectuals and will give opinion after completing necessary verification of name and particulars of the martyred intellectuals based on different research books, newspaper cuttings, television reporting and other sources, said the gazette notification. The committee will also determine the names of the martyred intellectuals who will be included as the liberation war martyred,” it added.
Even the committee also will recommend the applications received from various sources including different ministries, division, agency, district and upazila for enrolment in the list of martyred intellectuals after completing necessary verifications.
