Coronavirus: 21 die, 2111 infected, 1893 recover in 24 hours

The death toll from coronavirus has reached 6,275 as 21 more people died from the disease in the last 24 hours. 

Besides, 2,111 more tested positive for the virus, raising the number of such cases to 438,795. 

Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release on Wednesday. 

In the last 24 hours, 16,469 samples were examined and out of them 2,111 got positive results for the virus. Apart from, 1,893 more recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 354,788, the press release added. 

Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8. 

The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.

The deadly virus spread to 213 countries and territories, killing some 1,345,070 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

As many as 56,016,137 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 39,028,474 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
