Shawkat Ali, former Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament, has passed away.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka at 9:30 am on Monday.
Md Tariq Mahmud, Director of Public Relations of the Parliament Secretariat, confirmed the death to Jago News.
He was suffering from kidney, diabetics, pneumonia and high blood pressure for a long time.
Shawkat Ali had been elected lawmaker from Shariatpur-2 for five times.
He was one of the accused in the Agartala Conspiracy Case filed during the Ayub regime in Pakistan period.
