The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued a death warrant for former Jatiya Party state minister Syed Mohammad Kaiser who was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity in 1971 liberation war of Bangladesh.
Saeed Ahmed, Registrar of the tribunal, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Thursday.
Earlier on January 14, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence for Kaiser.
On December 23, 2014, the ICT-2 sentenced Syed Kaiser to death for murder, genocide, rape in Brahmanbaria and Habiganj during the liberation war.
On January 19, 2015, his lawyers appealed against the verdict. On July 10 last year, the appeal hearing of Syed Mohammad Kaiser was begun.
Of the 16 prosecution’s allegations against Kaiser, 14 were undoubtedly proved in tribunal verdict. Of these, he was sentenced to death on charges no. 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16.
