The 33rd span of the Padma Bridge was installed on Monday bringing around 5 kilometers of the structure into view.
The span was installed on pillars no 3 and 4 at Mawa point around 12pm.
Executive Engineer (Bridge) Dewan Md Abdul Quader confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The rest eight spans will be installed on October 25 and 30, November 4, 11, 16 and 23 and December 2 and 10. It is expected that the whole bridge will be visible on December 10 after installation of all 41 spans.
Once in service, the 6.15km-long bridge will connect the capital with 21 southwestern districts. It is expected to boost the country’s gross domestic product by 1.2 percent.
All of the 41 spans were supposed to be installed within the first week of October but the work was delayed due to the turbulent current and water level rise of the Padma River during the monsoon, according to engineers of the bridge.
