The Election Commission (EC) has filed a case against Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury - popularly known as Nixon Chowdhury - lawmaker of Faridpur-4, for violating electoral codes of conduct.
Senior Election Officer of the district Nawabul Islam filed the case against him with Charbhadrasan Police Station around 10am on Thursday.
Naznin Khanam, officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the case to Jago News.
Earlier on Wednesday, the EC decided to file case against Nixon Chowdhury on charge of threatening Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Atul Sarkar and scolding responsible executive magistrate in election.
On Tuesday, Nixon Chowdhury at a press conference sought legal action against the DC, claiming that the DC acted in favour of BNP candidate KM Obaidul Bari in the recently held election for the chairman post of Charbhadrasan upazila.
He also hurled abusive language at the DC and an AC (land) in separate telephone conversations. The MP, however, claimed that the phone conversations were heavily edited.
