Laguage movement veteran Professor Dr Mirza Mazharul Islam has died of COVID-19, the disease caused by novel coronavirus.
He breathed his last at BIRDEM General Hospital, Dhaka around 9:15am on Sunday while undergoing treatment, sources in the hospital said.
Earlier on September 30, Mirza Mazharul got admitted at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
Before death, he was honourary chief consultant of BIRDEM General Hospital.
He achieved Ekushey Padak-2020 for his contribution in the language movement.
