Six killed in ambulance-covered van collision

Six people were killed in a fatal road crash in Wazirpur upazila of Barishal on Wednesday afternoon.

Among the deceased, five were identified as couple Arifur Rahman and Sheuli Begum, their grandmother Kohinur Begum, uncle Kaiyum Hossain Tareq, and ambulance driver Alamgir Kabir.

Wazirpur Police Station officer in-charge Ziaul Ahsan said an ambulance and a covered van collided head-on in Atipara area around 4:30pm, leaving five passengers of the ambulance and its driver dead.

Soon after the incident, a bus of 'M M Paribahan' hit the covered van from behind, leaving eight to 10 passengers of the bus injured, Ziaul said.

The OC said a baby daughter named Tamanna died in a hospital in capiatl Dhaka on Sunday, two days after her birth.

Relatives of the dead baby met their tragic end when they alongwith the body were going to village home Jhalakathi on the ambulance, OC Ziaul added.
