Bangladesh Railway has announced that it will add 24 more local and commuter trains to its fleet between September 10 and 16, reports UNB.
A circular was issued in this regard on Tuesday signed by Deputy Director (traffic transportation) Khairul Kabir.
The rest of the trains will be added in phases, said the official.
The selling of 50 percent tickets against the total seats will continue to maintain social and physical distancing, said the circular.
The train tickets will be available at ticket counters from September 12, Bangladesh Railway announced on Monday.
From September 12, 25 percent train tickets will be sold online and rest 25 percent will be available at counters, the statement said.
Train services resumed on May 31 with eight pairs of intercity trains. Bangladesh Railway started selling tickets online from May 30 to avoid health risks amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The government on May 29 issued a gazette notification allowing limited operation of public transport and offices from May 31 to June 15 amid the pandemic.
