The deaths related to the novel coronavirus reached 4,316 in Bangladesh on Tuesday as the country recorded 35 more fatalities from the virus in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 1,950 people newly caught the deadly virus, taking the country's tally to 3,14,946, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
The press statement said 12,209 samples were tested in the past day. With this, the number of total sample tests reached 15,62,412.
However, 3,290 more COVID-19 patients made recovery, bringing the total recovery to 2,08,177.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
As of Tuesday, the epidemic infected 25,656,610 people and killed 855,146 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 17,955,331 across the world.
