The Election Commission (EC) has filed a case against JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury for having acquired dual National Identity Cards (NIDs) with fake information.
Gulshan Thana Election Officer Mohammad Momin Miah filed the case with Badda Police Station on Sunday.
Md Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
She has been charged under sections 14 and 15 of the National Identity Card Registration Act. According to this, if a person is a voter in two places, she can be imprisoned for a maximum of one year or fined Tk 20,000.
According to EC’s NID division, Sabrina become a voter for the first time in 2009, when she used her current and permanent address in Mohammadpur. She mentioned her date of birth as being December 2, 1978.
She mentioned her husband’s name to be H Haque and educational qualification as being post-graduation.
But in her second NID issued in 2016, she mentioned her permanent and current address in Badda and her husband’s name as Ariful Chowdhury. In that ID, she used December 2, 1983 as her date of birth.
She also changed her mother’s name, as well as educational qualifications, declaring herself a graduate.
It is mentionable that, JKG Healthcare's chairman Sabrina Arif Chowdhury (Sabrina Sharmin Hussain) and her husband Ariful Haque Chowdhury are among the eight accused in the case for providing fake coronavirus report.
