The deaths related to the novel coronavirus reached 4,127 in Bangladesh on Thursday as the country recorded 45 more fatalities from the virus in the past 24 hours.
During the period, 2,436 people newly caught the deadly virus, taking the country's tally to 3,40,583, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.
As of Thursday, the epidemic infected 24,359,545 people and killed 830,197 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 16,893,455 across the world.
