A court in Dhaka on Tuesday asked the government to seize the immovable property of the expelled Juba League leader, Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat.
KM Imrul Kayes, judge of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court, passed the order of seizing Samrat's two flats at city's DOHS and Kakrail.
Earlier today, the Anti-Corruption Commission investigation officer and its deputy director Md Zahangir Alam sought a court order in this regard.
The anti-graft body official on November 12 lodged a case against Samrat, the expelled president of Dhaka South Juba League.
In the lawsuit, Zahangir accused Samrat of illegally amassing wealth worth around Tk 3 crore.
Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat was held by the law enforcers from Cumilla's Chauddagram upazila on October 6 last year after information of running casino business revealed.
Later, the dismissed Juba League leader landed in jail after a mobile court order for possessing kangaroo skin illegally.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) also filed two cases against Samrat under arms, and Narcotics Control Acts.
