The death toll from coronavirus has reached 3,438 as 39 more people died from the disease in the last 24 hours.
Besides, 2,907 more have been infected with the virus, raising the number of such cases to 260,507.
Professor Nasima Sultana, ADG of the Directorate General of Health Services, said this while presenting the daily health bulletin on Monday.
In the last 24 hours, 12,849 samples were examined and out of them 2,907 got positive results for the virus. Apart from, 2,067 more recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 150,437, she said.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8.
The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
The deadly virus spread to 213 countries and territories, killing some 734,186 people globally, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
As many as 20,037,160 people worldwide caught the virus. Among them, 12,907,598 people recovered from the virus, the website said.
