32 more die of Covid-19 in 24hrs

The number of deaths from coronavirus in Bangladesh reached 3,365 as the country recorded 32 more fatalities relating to the virus in the past 24 hours.

During the period, 2,611 more coronavirus cases were reported, taking the total infections to 2,55,113, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

The daily count of new cases and deaths was found after testing 11,737 more samples across the country.

Prof Nasima Sultana, additional director general of DGHS, came up with the disclosure at its daily health bulletin on Saturday.

However, 1,46,604 coronavirus patients have, so far, made recovery, with 1,020 recovered in the past day, she said.

Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on March 8. Since then the country has been struggling to limit spread of the highly contagious virus.

Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to newer countries and territories.

As of Saturday, the epidemic infected 19,557,170 people and killed 724,340 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, total number of people who recovered from the coronavirus pandemic reached 12,557,755 across the world.
