21 Bangladesh Navy members hurt in Beirut blast

Tweenty one Bangladeshi Navy members stationed in Lebanon were injured in a massive blast that shocked the country's capital Beirut on Tuesday, killing 78 people and injuring nearly 400.

"No Bangladeshi workers died or received injuries in the explosion but 21 personnel of Bangladesh Navy lightly got hurt," said Abdullah Al Mamun, head of chancery of Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut.

Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Bijoy anchored in Beirut was damaged somewhat, said Mamun, adding that most of the total 110 personnel were not at the ship during the explosion.

One hundred people were killed and about 4,000 injured as a powerful blast occurred in a warehouse in Beirut around  6 p.m. (1500 GMT) on Tuesday, reports Reuters.
