An ex-union parishad member was injured in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Teli Dhannokhola area in Bagharpara upazila of Jessore on Sunday early morning.The deceased was identified as Abu Esha, 45, ex-UP member of Naldanga Union Parishad of the upazila.Officer-in charge of Bagharpara Police Station Soiruddin Ahmed said acting on secret information that a gang of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery at Teli Dhannokhola area on Khajura-Bagharpara road, a team of law enforcers conducted a drive at the area.Sensing presence of police the robber gang opened fire and blasted crude bomb on them, encouraging the police force to retaliate that triggering into a gunfight, leaving Abu Esha bullet injured.Later, police rescued him and sent him to local hospital.
