Two 'drug traders' killed in Diabari 'gunfight'

Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion in capital Dhaka's Diabari area early Friday.

Deceased Ibrahim Khalil, 46, was resident of Bakkarpur in Char Fasson upazila of Bhola, and Omar Faruk, 35, of Bheluarchar in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi. They both lived in Dattapara of Tongi in Gazipur.

Kamruzzaman, senior assistant police superintendent of RAB-1, confirmed this to Jago News this morning. 

He said the elite force challanged the duo in Diabari area around 2:30am but they fired on RAB instead of stopping.

The elite force also fired back that triggered a gun battle, leaving two bullet-hit injured.

They were taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead, Kamruzzaman added.

Two foreign pistols, nine round of bullets, three mobiles and a motorcycle were recovered from the spot. 

Out of the deceased, Ibrahim was a drug dealer and Omar Faruk his aide. They were accused in a few cases filed with city's different police stations, the RAB official added.
