The government has decided to keep the public transport closed for nine days during Eid-ul-Azha to stop spread of coronavirus.
The public transport will remain shut for five days before and three days after the Eid.
A letter has been sent from Cabinet Division to the concerned ministries and divisions in this regard.
State Minister of Shipping Ministry Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Wednesday confirmed the matter.
“We got a gazette notification regarding the closure of public transport for five days before and three days after the Eid,” he said at a meeting held at the Secretariat.
The Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on July 31 or August 1 based on moon sighting.
