Maj Gen Ashikuzzaman made Bangladesh ambassador to Kuwait

The government has appointed Major General Md Ashikuzzaman as the new Ambassador of Bangladesh to the State of Kuwait.

He would replace incumbent ambassador SM Abul Kalam as his contractual tenure is set to end on July 31.

Kalam has allegedly been accused of being involved with lawmaker Shahidul Islam Papul, who was recently arrested in Kuwait on charge of human trafficking.

Ashikuzzaman was commissioned in Bangladesh Army in 1988. Right before his appointment as the ambassador, he was serving as senior directing staff (Army) of National Defence College, Bangladesh.

He also participated in three United Nations Peace Support Missions in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and DR Congo.

He obtained his Masters of Defence Studies and Masters of Strategic Studies from National University, Bangladesh.

He is married to Nahid Niaz Shilu and they are blessed with two sons, Farhan Ashik and Fardeen Ashik.

He is a golfer and an artist.
