Faridpur district council chairman freedom fighter Md Lokman Hossain Mridha has died of COVID-19. He was 76.
He breathed his last at Sheikh Russel GastroLiver Institute & Hospital, Dhaka around 11am on Friday.
The eminent educationist left behind his wife, four sons, a daughter, relatives and a host of well-wishers to mounr his death.
Lokman Mridha served the district Awami League and Red Crescent Society as as vice president and president respectively, and had been served different social organizations.
He got admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital with coronavirus symptoms on June 22.
On the following day, results of his COVID-19 test came positive.
He was shifted to Sheikh Russel GastroLiver Institute & Hospital on June 24 after his condition deteriorated.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Otul Sarker confirmed the matter.
