An unidentified man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Malancha village of Shibpur union under Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha in the early hours of Thursday.The dead man was a member of banned Islamist militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). Police recovered homemade arms and ammunition from the spot.Officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj Police Station Md. Mozammel Haque said, a group of JMB man was holding a secret meeting at Malancha village. Hearing the news, police raided at that place. Sensing presence of the police, JMB man fired shot at them. In replying, police opened fire and a JMB man was killed on the spot. The dead body was kept at police station, he added.
