Actress-MP Locket Chatterjee tests positive for Covid-19

Former Tollywood actress and now BJP MP Locket Chatterjee said on Friday that she has tested positive for coronavirus.

Informing of her Covid test result on Friday, the MP tweeted, "I have tested positive for Covid-19 this morning, having mild fever and was in self-isolation for the past one week. I will keep everyone posted. All is well."

Recently elevated to the post of party general secretary in West Bengal, Locket Chatterjee has been very active with grassroots agitation, especially over women's issues.

She was also present at the funeral of martyred army jawan Rajesh Orang's funeral in Birbhum district on June 19 along with BJP MP Saumitra Khan. A few hundred people had attended the funeral to pay their homage to the martyred soldier.

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was also present at the event. Others who were present at the event were Bengal ministers Chandranath Sinha, Ashish Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC) lawmaker Anubrata Mondal.

On June 24, Locket Chatterjee and Saumitra Khan had staged a road blockade with BJP supporters in Howrah's Bagnan area over the death of a woman who allegedly died while trying to save her daughter from sexual assault.
