Globe Biotech Limited, a sister concern of Globe Pharmaceuticals Group of Companies Limited in Bangladesh, has claimed that it has invented a vaccine for coronavirus disease.
It was successful with the coronavirus vaccine in animal test, the company revealed the information at a press conference held at its main office in the capital’s Tejgaon on Thursday.
The vaccine was developed under the supervision of the company’s CEO Dr Kakon Nag, COO Dr Naznin Sultana.
The company started its works to invent a coronavirus vaccine on March 8.
Harunur Rashid, Chairman of Globe Biotech Limited said, we are working to start a clinical trial to test the safety and effectiveness of this vaccine. We seek the full cooperation of the government in this test.
He also said, according to NCBI virus database, 5,743 genome sequences have been submitted across the world as of Tuesday (June 30). Of which 76 have been submitted from Bangladesh. Globe Biotech Limited confirms their ticker target by testing the sequence through the Bioinformatics tool which would logically be more effective in this geographical area.
Bangladesh so far reported 1,888 death and 149,258 total cases. The country reported its first three cases of COVID-19 on March 8.
The new coronavirus pandemic first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year.
The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
