Former Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, who tested Covid-19 positive on June 5, died early hours of Monday. He was 69.
Kamran, also the member of Awami League’s central executive committee, breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka around 3am.
His elder son Doctor Arman Ahmed Shiplu confirmed his father’s death to Jago News.
Kamran was in isolation after he tested positive for coronavirus on June 5. He was admitted to the Corona Isolation Centre of Sylhet Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital on June 6 after his condition deteriorated. Later, he was shifted to CMH and was on oxygen support at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Earlier on May 27, Kamran’s wife Asma Kamran, General Secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan Mahila AL unit, also tested positive for coronavirus. She is receiving treatment staying in isolation at home.
