A part from his exceptional acting talent, Shah Rukh Khan is known for his gentlemanly behaviour and his sharp wit. From celebrities to regular people, each person has their own story of how the actor won them over with his charm.
Samrat Guha, one such man who was charmed by Badshah Khan in 2002, took to Quora to share how Shah Rukh is in person. He met the star on a wintry night of December, 18 years ago in an upscale Indian restaurant at a posh Bandra hotel.
They were about to close the restaurant when there was a commotion at the lobby entrance. Their duty manager called and informed them that a VVIP is visiting. He instructed the kitchen team to be ready on standby. He wrote, "Next thing we knew, in walked a group of 10 or 12 people, escorted by our hotel staff and the duty manager. A tall, slender, and very fair man in a black suit, who was leading the entire group, was walking towards where I was standing."
"A teen girl screamed, 'Ohh Shah Rukh!' That was when the realisation struck me. The VIP had by then reached the table I was standing at and asked me, 'Can we sit here?'"
The Quora user then went on to explain how the Swades actor interacted with his fans and other people who came to meet him even at midnight. He wrote, "He talked in a mild tone with everyone at the table. The fans appeared one by one at the table out of nowhere, even in the dead of night. He smiled, nodded and signed autographs while still holding conversations, never missing a beat. He graciously kept doing Aadaab to any senior visitor, if they came, while half rising from his seat. The duty manager finally closed the door for some privacy."
Shah Rukh Khan loves his cigerettes. Even when he was having his food, he couldn't resist smoking. Samrat wrote, "When the food arrived, Shahrukh kept the food plate on his lap and ate sparingly. He didn't waste anything, finishing off all that was served to him. His cigarette never went off all this while; 555 brand."
Talking about Shah Rukh Khan's demeanor and how he treated the staff, he wrote, "He was radiant, fresh-faced and dressed immaculately. His body language was relaxed, but he never let his guard down. He often smiled, even cracked a joke or two. Before leaving, he ensured his staff paid a hefty tip to our team, including the kitchen. He personally stood facing our hardworking Garhwali kitchen staff and thanked them all in a sweeping gesture."
Samrat Guha is one lucky fan who got to meet Shah Rukh Khan in person. About how he felt after meeting the actor, he wrote, "Those 45 minutes or so were mesmerizing, to say the least. He is indeed a blessed soul. No wonder he has been such a bundle of joy to the Indian film industry since the early nineties. If you ever hear the phrase 'lights up a room', that was it. Actually, Shahrukh lights up a stadium."
