Three months passed after Bangladesh had first confirmed its coronavirus cases on March 8, and during the period the country saw nearly 70000 infections.
In an efforts to curb the spread of the deadly virus, it had announced more than two months long general holidays but infections did not decrease rather witnessed newer records.
Though the number of infections was low in the start of outbreak but gradually it rising fast and in last a week Bangladesh witnessed 16790 cases and 258 deaths.
The total coronavirus cases and fatalities from the pathogen stood at 68,504 and 940 respectively as of Monday.
Out of the infected, a total of 14,560 won their battle against the pandemic.
Some 4,10,931 samples, however, were examined during last three months.
Today the country recorded second highest deaths of 42 from COVID-19, the disease caused by novel coronavirus, and 2,735 cases.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the country witnessed 28 percent out of total coronavirus fatalities in past seven days.
The health experts fear the infections and deaths will increase more in comming days that prompted the government to divide some areas in capital Dhaka and across the country into red, yellow, and green zones and bring those under lockdown.
