More than 50 BB staff catch coronavirus

More than 50 staff of Bangladesh Bank have, so far, contracted the novel coronavirus, creating a fear of operation disruption if the infections continue.

Besides the already infected employees, over 100 ones of the central bank showed symptoms of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

The central bank as regulating institution has been giving instructions in prevention of coronavirus transmission in bank and financial institutions but now it saw a good number of employees had the virus. 

The officials concerned suggest launching duty roster in the bank complying with health guidelines is urgent for keeping economic activities moving, and providing uninterrupted service.

Regarding this, BB executive director and spokesman Sirajul Islam told Jago News, "We have noticed the matter, and soon necessary steps would be taken."
