A Gazipur Court on Monday convicted a youth and sentenced him to death for killing a woman at Kaliganj upazila of the district in 2015. The court also fined him tk 10,000. The convict is Nurul Amin, 23, son of Nur Chan Sheikh, hailing from Boraeid village in the upazila. According to prosecution, the convict hit Minara Khatun, a resident of the village, with bamboo near a guava orchard at the village on her way to home on April 2, 2015 over previous enmity. Ayesha Begum daughter of the deceased filed a case with Kaliganj Police Station on April 2, 2015.Md Farid Uddin, sub-inspector of Kaliganj Police Station and also the investigation officer submitted the charge sheet against Nurrl Amin on July 17, 2015.After examining eight witnesses and all the records, District and Session Judge AKM Enamul Haque handed down the verdict.
