Three people died and four others became ill after drinking alcohol in Dinajpur on Tuesday midnight.
The incident took place at Mahmudpur village of 6 no. ward in Birampur municipality.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Matin, 27, son of Anwarul Islam, Azizul Islam, 33, Tofajjal Hossen and Mohsin Ali, 38, son of Sultan Mahmud.
The sick people were admitted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH). Identities of them could not be known immediately.
According to locals, they drank alcohol after buying it from a homeopathy shop and fell sick. Later, three of them died on the way to RMCH. Police arrested a homeopathic doctor named Abdul Mannan, 40, in this connection.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Birampur Police Station, said three bodies were sent to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for autopsies.
