Morshedul Alam, director of Bangladeshi industrial conglomerate S Alam Group, died from the novel coronavirus on Friday night. He aged 62.
He breathed his last at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Chattogram General Hospital around 10pm on Friday, Chattogram divisional director (health) Hasan Shahriar Kabir told Jago News.
Morshedul was the elder brother of S Alam Group's chairman Saiful Alam, Hasan Shahriar added.
Dr Abdur Rob, senior consultant of the hospital, said Morshedul and his five family members tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, on May 17.
Morshedul got admitted to Chattogram General Hospital, a dedicated one for COVID-19 patients' treatment, with respiratory complications on Thursday.
Their home at Sugandha residential area is now under lockdown.
