Bangladesh police members are being infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) at alarming rate, with 3,235 caught the disease as of Thursday.
The deadly virus, so far, claimed 10 lives in the force, said the sources in police headquarters.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been hardest hit with 1277 personnel contracted the virus.
A total of 569 police members recovered from COVID-19.
Bangladesh confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on March 8, and since then it has been seeing hike in the number of infections and deaths.
Today the country reported the highest single-day spike in both coronavirus infections and deaths. Some 1773 people tested positive for the virus and 22 died.
With this, number of COVID-19 cases stood at 28,511, and the virus-related deaths 408 in the country.
