A lots of rain and strong wind lashed the coastal areas of Satkhira on Tuesday afternoon under the influence of cyclonic storm 'Amphan.
The rains began to fall around 12:45pm, and wave swelled and water rose in the rivers of the coastal areas.
Shyamnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) ANM Abujar Gifari said their disaster management team are working and have already evacuated around 2000 people to shelters.
The personnel of army, naval, fire service, and coast guards are kept ready to facilitate post disaster rescue operation, he said.
Met office said the very severe cyclone storm 'Amphan' over west central Bay and adjoining area moved north-northeastwards and now lies over the same area.
At 12 noon, it was centered about 810 kilometers southwest of Chattogram port, 765km southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 695km south-southwest of Mongla port and 690km south-southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to move in a north-northeasterly direction and may cross Bangladesh coast between Khulna-Chattogram during late night May 19, the Met Office said.
