A webinar titled “COVID-19 challenges for the food and beverage supply chain professionals” was held on Friday.
Society of Supply Chain Professionals (SSP), a nonprofit organization, organized the webinar. Members of this organization are from supply chain profession of different food manufacturing companies.
Partha Kumar Das, Md. Abdul Gaffar AL Mamun, Golam Morshed and Mohammad Alauddin Miazi addressed in the webinar. Md. Liton Akanda was the program moderator.
Speakers mainly discussed about the challenges of food manufacturing companies.
Partha Kumar Das, Assistant General Manager of Supply Chain of PRAN Group, mainly discussed about commercial challenges to open new LC, release the materials from port and to import from China, India and other countries.
He also discussed about the support from different government agencies.
Abdul Gaffar AL Mamun, Head of Supply Chain of Rani Food Industries Ltd, discussed about the challenges to source the Bulk Raw materials like Rice, Spices and Packing Materials.
He also discussed about the price trend in COVID-19 situation. He forecasts that their Bulk raw materials price may be increased because of lock down in major raw materials producing countries like China, India and France etc.
Golam Morshed, Senior Manager of Commercial Department of Square Food and Beverage Ltd, discussed about a unique problem that is maintenance of their major production line. Food manufacturing companies need to maintain the quality for that maintenance is required. But in COVID-19 situation major countries are locked. So maintenance engineers cannot come from different countries.
Mohammad Alauddin Miazi, Head of Local Procurement of Olympic Industries Ltd, discussed about the challenges to run production in factories. Lack of Labor and quality raw materials are major hinders faced by factories to run production. But factories maintain 100 percent hygiene in production.
Rahat Jaman was program administrator. He managed all administrative sites and technical sites of the program. Md. Mainul Karim managed question-answer session of the program.
SSP will arrange another webinar on the solutions and remedies of major problems faced by food companies in COVID-19 situation.
