Three people were killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Rongikhali village under Hnila union in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Syed Alam, Nurul Alam and Abdul Monaf alias Monaiya. They all are the members of dacoit gang, said police.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid on a hideout of dacoit gang in the area. At that time, they opened fire on police and in reply police also fired back, said Pradeep Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station.
“Five members of police were injured in the incident. Three bullet-hit people were recovered from the spot and sent to Teknaf upazila health complex where the doctors declared them dead.”
18 home and foreign-made arms and a large amount of yaba were also recovered from the hideout, the OC added.
