First coronavirus death reported in Rajshahi

A coronavirus infected patient died today at 7.40 am for the first time in the division at Infectious Disease Hospital here where he was undergoing treatment since April 20, reports BSS. 

Deputy Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) Dr Saiful Ferdous said the deceased was identified as Abdus Sobhan, 80, a bamboo craft manufacturer and vendor in profession of Gaonpara village under Bagha upazila in the district.

He was admitted to the RMCH with multiple complexes on April 17 last. Subsequently, the existence of coronavirus has been detected in his x-ray report on April 20.

Dr Ferdous said he has also been tested positive for Covid-19 in RMCH’s corona laboratory on the same day.

Instantly, around 42 medical personnel, including 21 doctors, of RMCH were sent to quarantine following the reported case on the following morning.

But, none of them was tested positive in laboratory tests conducted on Wednesday and Thursday, Dr Ferdous added.
