Indefinite strike on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway

Transport workers in Sylhet on Wednesday are holding an indefinite strike on Dhaka-Sylhet highway protesting the killing of their fellow by angry passengers in Dhaka.The Transport Workers Union called the strike last night after bus driver Babul Debnath was allegedly beaten up by angry passengers on Monday as his vehicle was late in reaching Sayedabad bus terminal from Sylhet.The indefinite strike will be effective for 12 hours every day, Selim Ahmed Falik, president of Sylhet district bus workers union said, today we decided to enforce it for 12 hours. So, the indefinite strike will start from 6:00am and will continue till 6:00pm every day. All vehicular movement will be suspended during strike.Debnath was left critically injured after the beating and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead on Monday night.
