The number of novel coronavirus cases in Bangladesh passed 3,000 on Tuesday, with 434 were newly infected with the virus.
The deadly virus also claimed nine more lives, said prof Nasima Sultana, ADG of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the past 24 hours, samples of 2,974 people were examined. Out of them, 434 tested positive for COVID-19, and nine died from the virus. With this, the country's cases stood at 3,382, and deaths 110, prof Nasima said.
Among the dead, five were male and four female. Of them, three were sexagenrians, three aged 50-60, and rest three 40-50, she added.
In DGHS' regular bulletin on coronavirus, the official also said two more coronavirus patients recovered, raising the total recovery to 87.
As of Tuesday, a total of 29,578 people's samples were examined across the country, mentioned in the bulletin.
Bangladesh first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8. Since then the country has been witnessing increase in the infections and deaths.
COVID-19 first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year, and then spread to 210 countries and territories.
As of Tuesday the epidemic infected 2,490,516 people and killed 170,590 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website which compiles number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, total recovery from the coronavirus pandemic reached 653,577 across the world.
