Editors of Jago News, Bdnews sued

A case has been filed under the Digital Security Act against four people including acting editor of Jago News Mohiuddin Sarker and editor of Bdnews Toufique Imrose Khalidi over a news report of stealing rice.

Mominul Islam Bhasani, president of Swechasebak League of Thakurgaon’s Baliadangi upazila unit, filed the case on Saturday night.

The other accused are Shaon Amin and and Rahim Shubha.

Bhasani alleged that, 68 sacks of OMS rice were recovered from his area a few days ago. In this connection, upazila food controller Nikhil Chandra Barman filed a case accusing some people on April 9. But on April 8, terming him as a rice thief, two people named Shaon Amin and Rahim Shubha posted a status on their facebook account. Later, Jago News and Bdnews published news accusing him and his brother Polashbari union parishad chairman Aminul Islam Amin.

When contacted, Hasibul Haque Pradhan, officer-in-charge of Baliadanga Police Station, said a complaint was filed and we will investigate the matter. 

The case was filed under sections of 25, 29 and 31 of Digital Security Act. Sub Inspector Rambabu Roy is inquiring the case, the OC added.
