4 arrested for stockpiling coronavirus safety equipments

Police have arrested four persons for illegally stockpiling coronavirus safety gears to sell at higher price conducting a overnight drive in city’s Bangla Motor area, reports BSS.

Police official familiar with the drive said a team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s Ramna Zone arrested four persons identifying them Anwar Hossain, Amit Basak, Shoaib and Shuvro, carrying out a overnight raid at Jahura Tower of Bangla Motor responding to a secret tip-off.

The team led by senior assistant police commissioner SM Shamim also recovered a huge stash of coronavirus safety equipments, including testing kits, which is not supposed to be in common hands, he said.

“We recovered 275 corona testing kits, 9050 regular face masks, 100 N95 face masks, 198 PPE gowns, 960 pair of hand gloves, 250 pair of protective goggles, 900 caps and 1440 shoe covers from their office in Jahura Tower in capital’s Bangla Motor area,” a DMP release quoting assistant police commissioner Zaved Iqbal, said.

A group of people are stockpiling virus safety gears for selling at higher price, when country is battling against the transmission of deadly coronavirus and the treatment of corona patients are getting hampered by the shortage of these safety equipments, senior assistant police commissioner SM Shamim said.

A case was filed against the accused with Shahbagh Police Station under section 25/ 25 (b) of The Special Powers ACT.
