The High Court declared illegal the rules that allow lawmakers to hold the chairman posts in governing bodies of non-government schools and colleges.The High Court on Wednesday scrapped two provisions of the Non-government School College Governing Body Regulation 2009. A two-member HC bench comprising Justice Zinat Ara and Justice AKM Zahirul Hoque came up with the order after the final hearing on two writ petitions filed by advocate Yunus Ali.The court said the Viqarunnisa Noon School and College committee, headed by Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon, too, is illegal.But the committee can stay in office until its tenure ends.
