Coronavirus: Global death toll reaches 59,178

The global death toll from coronavirus or COVID-19 jumped to 59,178 on Saturday morning.

It has so far infected 1,099,080 people around the world, according to worldometer.

Of them, 810,979 are currently being treated with 39,391 being in serious or critical condition.

So far, 228,923 people have recovered.

Bangladesh on Friday confirmed the five more new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of such cases in the country to 61.

Coronavirus, first reported in China in December last year, is affecting 205 countries and territories around the world and two international cruise ships.

The World Health Organization on March 11 declared COVID-19 a global pandemic.
